1. You Have A Light

1. You Have A Light

Jun 08, 2024

There is a light within you. The light is the portion of God's Spirit that was implanted within you before you were in your mother's womb. Jeremiah 1:5 states that, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” A prophet is an individual that has been prepared to be an ambassador for God wherever they go. The bible says that God knew you before your parents conceived you. And, the source of that light is God's presence taking up residence within you. That light requires three things in order to stay lit. It requires the proper positioning with the purpose of God, right character and development of talents.

Aligning yourself with the purpose of God requires you to understand why you were sent. God is a pure, loving spirit and because of His purity, He drives out all impurity from his presence. The Bible speaks to the fact that the world we live in has been made impure and it taints us as we live in it. That we would die in the presence of God had it not been for Jesus coming to Earth to cleanse us, and give us a blank slate; this allows the light to be uncovered. You are given the light for the purpose of healing yourself, healing those around you and bringing glory to God. According to His word, you were sent to heal the world with your existence. Like your God, you were born to be influential, you were born to affect the atmosphere around you, you were born to be the answer. Our God stands outside of time and knows the end of time before the beginning (Isaiah 46:10). In his Infinite wisdom, he chose to have you born in this time, in the family you were born into, in the city you were born in, in the country you are from. Why? Because He knew the world would have a question that needed a resolution, so he sent you to Be the answer. The answer you bring will help others to realize that they are also light bearers and emulate your character; none the wiser that they are actually adopting the character of God.

With that in mind, the version of you that God imagined was a pure, loving being. It was a being that was just like Him. A person who is capable of reflecting His nature so effectively that there would be no doubt about his existence in the world. A person who is: Honest, Enthusiastic, Confident, Patient, Disciplined, Persistent, Loyal, Faithful, Goal, Oriented, Diligent, Self- Respecting, Loving, Humorous, Friendly, Motivated, Compassionate, Full of Integrity, A Person of Noble Character, Dedicated, Humble, Organized, Dependable, Decisive, A Good Listener, An Effective Communicator, an Empathic person with common sense, and Eager Eternal Student with a Positive Mental Attitude. To a person like this, the world is your playground. And, when you take the time to think about it. If the world was filled with people like this, it would be a utopia. And that was God’s intention for you, as someone who bears his light.

Be honest, are you struggling with any of those qualities above? If so, you're not the only one. I do too at times, depending on the situation. It's a result of growing up in the world we live in, where we are constantly interacting with others who haven’t recognized that they were born to carry a light as well. And so we become what we are around. The goal is to internalize those skills above so much that it makes it easier for you to recognize your light. Because, when you recognize your light you are able to see yourself the way that God sees you. God sees you as a light bearer.

Although we all have the light of God, that light is expressed in our lives in different ways. If you think about it, considering that we were all sent to be an answer, expressing our God given light in the same way would not serve that purpose effectively. After aligning yourself properly with God, and adopting the aforementioned character traits, your gifts and talents can be easily spotted. In Proverbs 18:16 it is written that, “A man’s gift [given in love or courtesy] makes room for him, And brings him before great men.” Think about it, what do you naturally do well? What do people consistently applaud you for? What are you passionate about? Lastly, Are you passionate enough about practicing it without payment, until you are so good at it that you will be paid richly for it? Once that talent is found, if you can answer yes to the questions above about it, you’re ready to go!

The first step is acknowledging and accepting who you are called to be. Mastering the characteristics of a light bearer will help you condition your mind, body and spirit to co-create with God by way of your gift. But you can’t do that if you fail to remember who you are and why you were sent here. Remember, the light was implanted within you for your good and to give God glory. The light you have, the person you are and the gifts and talents you possess are meant to make room for you in this world. You are called to shine, you are meant to shine, so shine.
